Niche Lens Privacy Policy

This policy covers the browser extension VNCNT Niche Lens: BSR & Sales Estimator for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Niche Lens shows Best Sellers Rank, estimated sales, royalty and a niche score on Amazon.com pages. It works entirely in your browser and uses a single browser permission, storage. It needs no account, shows no ads and uses no analytics or tracking. Niche Lens never sends your data to VNCNT Labs. We run no servers that receive it.
1. Where it runs
The extension runs only on pages at www.amazon.com that you open. It does not run on, read or record any other website, and it does not collect your browsing history.
2. What it reads
On an Amazon search or product page, the extension reads public product information shown on that page: title, author or brand, price, rating, review count, Best Sellers Rank, format, page count, publication date and publisher. It uses this information to draw its panel and calculate estimates in your browser. It does not read your Amazon account details, orders, addresses, payment methods or messages.
3. Lookups you request
When you click Look up or Analyze top N on a search page, the extension requests the product pages of those results from www.amazon.com, one at a time, at least two seconds apart. It pauses if Amazon shows a check page. These requests go directly from your browser to Amazon, like opening the pages yourself, and carry the cookies your browser already has for amazon.com. Amazon's own privacy notice applies to Amazon. Nothing is fetched in the background without your click.
4. Stored on your device only
- Settings: overlay on or off, panel collapsed, result chips on or off.
- Daily lookup counter: the number of lookups used today, to apply the free plan's limit.
- Lookup cache: the public product facts listed above for products you looked up, kept for 12 hours (at most 1,500 products) so the same page is not fetched twice.
This data is kept in the extension's local browser storage and is not synced to us. You can clear the cache any time in the extension's settings under Data & privacy. Uninstalling the extension removes everything.
5. Pro (not yet available)
The current version of Niche Lens is free only. It has no purchase, license key or CSV export features, and it makes no network requests other than the Amazon lookups you start (section 3). Pro, when it launches, will be sold through Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, and will check your license key with Lemon Squeezy's license service. We will update this policy, including exactly what is sent and stored, before any version with Pro is released.
6. Data sharing and selling
We do not sell or transfer user data. Apart from the requests to Amazon that you start (section 3), the extension shares nothing with anyone. We do not use any data for advertising, creditworthiness or lending, or for anything unrelated to the extension's single purpose.
7. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs and browser extension APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
8. Estimates
Amazon does not publish sales figures. Sales, revenue and royalty figures in Niche Lens are estimates from a published model, marked "EST", and may differ from actual results. See the extension's Method page for sources.
9. Children
The extension is a business tool. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
10. Security
The extension uses only the "storage" permission, plus access to www.amazon.com pages for its overlay. It runs no remote code. Its overlay is isolated from the page in a Shadow DOM. Connections to Amazon use HTTPS.
11. Not affiliated with Amazon
Niche Lens is an independent product of VNCNT Labs. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Amazon. Amazon, Kindle Direct Publishing and Merch by Amazon are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
12. Changes
If we change what the extension handles, we will update this page and the effective date before releasing that version, and tell you in the extension when the change matters to your privacy.
